Cairns Buskers Festival 2011

The Cairns Buskers Festival was first conceived in 2006 as a concept to liven up the streets of Cairns and designed to put world class buskers on our streets as well as creating a means to promote the talented local performers up here in the Far North.

This festival is fast becoming the largest street theatre and comedy festival in Queensland, and in the top 3 in Australia.

There are over 50 shows ranging from kids entertainment, performance and arts workshops, street shows, 3D chalk art, the opening night comedy show and thelate night Buskers Burlesque starting today and continuing through to Monday 19 September.

Early Morning Cairns Esplanade

The Cairns waterfront around 8:30 this morning. Only a handful of people around, which is surprising considering this is the height of the tourist season. Maybe everyone slept in. Looks like fantastic weather shaping up for the weekend.
