An early morning flight out of Cairns heading north past the Barron Gorge and Kuranda. Click in the photo to enlarge. There is still quite a bit of water coming down the river and as a result the falls are still quite spectacular. On the far side of the Gorge you can see the track of the Kuranda railway line and to the right of the falls you can just make out the towers of the Kuranda cableway. The dam at the top of the falls provides water for the hydro electric power station located in the Gorge below the falls.

Flying over Barron Falls 21/03/11

An early start to the wet season
On Christmas Day a small cyclone named Tasha kicked off what is looking like one of the best wet seasons we have had in years.
